What makes a seasoned song? A seasoned songwriter. And what makes the songwriter seasoned? Is it age? Or recogntion or success? Or rather, is it a truly lived life - one of reaching for great heights, of falling to cavernous depths, of taking chances and facing challenges head-on, a life of observing the world we live in with the artist's eye? Michael Tiernan proves that it is just that.
A cancer survivor, a world traveler, a student of languages, philosophy, religions, and at one point, a year away from being ordained a priest (gasp!), Michael's music is fully seasoned with the experiences of ten lifetimes. It is delivered and wrapped up in a unique style of acoustic guitar-centric music that at one moment soothes, at the next provokes, then rocks, and then calms again. Drawing comparisons that range from James Taylor to David Wilcox, from Melissa Etheridge to Kurt Cobain, from Ellis Paul to Steve Earle, Tiernan's music "adheres to no boundaries; every genre is crossed as Tiernan showcases his technical skill with exceedingly intricate guitar work" (San Diego Reader).
Along Tiernan's heavy tour-path in 2004 at venues on the West and East Coasts, from festivals to brewpubs, coffee houses to clubs, bookstores to old churches, audiences were treated to Michael's passionate performances and intimate style of communication.
