Description
Oxcart "...paints soundscapes of funky psychedelic elements as inspired by Pink Flyod as Morphine." The Portland Oregonian 10/15/04
"Sasquatch, the debut album by Oxcart, is an atmospheric slice of space rock, with layers that are dense and detailed. On songs like 730 days, they show a real skill in steeping their music in claustrophobic detachment, while cloaked within an intense sonic backdrop" Matt Slessler, Pabst Blue Ribbon Live and Local feature,Portland, OR 9/14/05
Portland, OR quartet Oxcart blends highly amplified electric guitar with sparse, floating vocals, expansive organ and piano, electric bass, and drums in a psychedelic mixture of explosive rock, funk, and deeply atmospheric melodies. The band's style may at times evoke a wide range of influences, from Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and U2 to Widespread Panic, Morphine, or Soundgarden and many others, yet the final product is clearly unique and unmistakable in its originality and inspiration.
Oxcart is formed by vocalist /guitarist Jason Baker, drummer Kevin Still, bassist / vocalist Ben Carey, and keyboardist vocalist Matt Jones. Working collaboratively, Oxcart has developed a strong base of original material (and a few thoughful covers) over a year and a half of steady performance in the NW United States region.
Most recently, Oxcart has independently released their debut album, Sasquatch?, the product of 4 months of careful studio work, to an appreciative Portland fanbase. The band feels that Sasquatch? is representative of Oxcart's full stylistic range, from spacey pop to funk and hard-edged rock in a single cohesive package.
