Description
Peter Buffett is a well established composer and producer in the New Age/World Music scene, as well as a highly respected film score composer. He began his career in music in the early 1980's in San Francisco when he was hired to create music for commercials. Soon after finding success in this venue, Peter signed a recording contract with Narada Records. After recording 4 titles for Narada, Peter left to record for Epic (the soundtrack to 500 Nations) and then Hollywood Records.
At the same time, Peter worked independently on film scores. Famed composer John Barry brought him on to write music for The Scarlet Letter after Peter scored the pivotal Fire Dance scene in the Oscar winning film, Dances With Wolves. Soon after that, Peter scored 8 hours of music for the CBS television miniseries 500 Nations produced by Kevin Costner.
1997 brought a Christmas CD featuring the voice and Celtic harp playing of Kim Robertson. In 1999, the documentary score to Wisconsin: An American Portrait won a "best soundtrack" Emmy award.
In 1999 Peter found himself out on tour with a show he conceived and composed entitled, "Spirit". This became a PBS Pledge Special hit that led to a 4 month tour in the U.S. The show combined a dynamic cast of musicians and professional modern and Native dancers telling the story of modern man's soul-searching journey to reclaim his history and sense of connection in today's fragmented and frantic paced world. Spirit is in pre-production for a Broadway debut in 2002.
Recently, Peter wrote the music for the documentary "Triathlon ~ Through the Eyes of the Elite". He released the full soundtrack independently in CD and DVD Audio format.
