Description
"Still Voices" - the Story
I have known about loss for some time now but I never knew it came without prejudice- without much taste for status, time and place. It seems to keep
company with just about everyone I have known.
And what surprises me is that those who know it (as I do) do not wear their scars as I do. All day long I walk around in a world full of beautiful people, the hungry and aching, the bitter and wanting - and I have no sense of what brought them this far. It has been my shame to see that I simply don't have the eyes to recognize the life in others, the need in others. And what's worse is that I don't afford the time to change how I see.
My time on the road has been invaluable; it has been a gift to me to be able to see and more importantly hear
Gods heart for myself and others.
For I believe God speaks to us in quiet places. And it is in those places of rest that we are unable to rob ourselves
of passion and character- where good is not good enough and where better is the enemy of His best. I believe this is
where we find ourselves whole again.
If we could just walk away for a moment, seek His face and listen for the voice that rises in the silence I think we would hear God speak as He would to a little child.
"Come close, little one. I have the world to give you. Sit with me for a while for there is much to say".
So I pray as I age and my body fades that I would seek Him and enjoy my Father forever. I pray I see the gift I have
been given and I find His heart for me.
And I pray my eyes would change and I would see those around me in need of His voice.
