Description
Richard Bellak writes/performs newclassic music that explores lines of intersection between classical, jazz, pop and rock. The 12 jazz preludes and fugues in "Fugal Dreams" contain elements of each of these contemporary styles. The fugues-one matched to the style of each prelude-are authentic 3 and 4 part fugues. If you like fugues as a musical form, this update is the real thing. As one reviewer wrote, the Jazz Preludes and Fugues in "Fugal Dreams" are "amazingly accessible and enjoyable".
A note about the track samples: The 3 and 4 part fugues in different styles are a truly unique aspect of the "Fugal Dreams" cd. Allowing a sample to play to the end (despite the pause after the prelude) will make it possible to hear the beginning (or more in some cases) of the fugue that follows. (Track 3 is the exception) If "Fugal Dreams" intrigues, there's another newclassic cd by Richard Bellak to try called "Mixed Drinks".
An RCB NEWCLASSIC/Mindambience release.
