Description
This album has been nearly eight years in the making. Half of the tracks on this album were essentially lost all that time. I had laid down the tracks in a private recording studio that later got dissolved as the result of a domestic problem between owners. With all of the moving the music was misplaced and or lost. I tried to find it but was unable to do so. It seemed that it simply was not be found. About three months ago a friend of mine who was with me when the recording took place had a woman knock on his door and present him with some recorded material (she claimed she found it while cleaning out her house) he then discovered it was my music. He called me and I was able to salvage five of the songs on this CD. I had already laid down two hymn tracks and soon decided that they would fit well with the Christmas music to help complete the album.
With the fusing together of the hymns with the Christmas songs it only seemed appropriate that the album be titled: GOSPEL CHRISTMAS. Everything was coming together as people say from time to timebut, why now? After eight years it was all coming together. Why is it working now and would not work eight years ago? This could easily be explained and perhaps understood by a believer, but hard to swallow for an outsider. I believe in that old saying the LORD moves in mysterious ways. Had I made the album eight years ago only Christmas songs would have been heard. Suppose some of the old melodies like The Old Rugged Cross/In The Garden were meant to be heard again for perhaps the younger generation of today. Who are nearly starved and unable to hear any of the old standards of the true GOSPEL music. Im talking about the old standards that have stood the test of time. Many churches of today are not singing the old standards for the young people. They cater to the young with fast moving music and often in unmelodic songs as if to scratch the surface but dont stop long enough for explanation and true understanding that I feel the LORD intended.
I seemed to have known the title automatically. To me it was Gospel Christmas immediately. I began to question why I had chosen the word Gospel. In following that thought I soon found that I could not explain completely what the word Gospel meant? So, I went to the dictionary and discovered that the word means several different things. It is the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles. One of the first four books of the New Testament, describing the life, the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a teaching or doctrine of a religious teacher. Lastly, it is something accepted as unquestionably true. When I read this last one accepted as unquestionably true I knew why I had chosen the word GOSPEL. The word GOSPEL is at the very root and foundation of where I stand as a Christianand that is GOSPEL!
