Description
Richard Parsons is not lying.
The truth in the verses of these songs on his debut solo release, Until The Sun Dies, takes you through a series of heartbreaks that simply cannot be fabricated. This collection is opened by a somewhat eerie a cappella, a solemn warning to be cautious about how readily and to whom you give your heart. It closes with a solo take of a tale speaking of regret from actions never taken due to ones cowardice and lack of self-assurance. Residing in between these beautiful downers are stories of love, lust, and loss, as well as quips toward friend and foe alike.
After a minor break from a group effort and time spent writing and performing as a solo musician, Richard has chosen to return to a band situation of sorts. Songs on Until The Sun Dies were scribed with one voice and one acoustic guitar. Yet, the decision to build on these solid foundations with layers of instrumentation varying from organic to electronic was one made throughout the writing process. The concept of recording an album with a band of musicians who werent bored or sounding so was brought to fruition with the help of close friend, Jeremy Wilkins, and his current outfit, allegra gellar. This path minimized a singer/songwriter, been done, lackluster approach.
In this age, when nearly everything is digital, and most folks will tell you that rock is dead and music has become soulless, there is proof that these statements are false. Once digital elements are combined with more traditional rock songwriting, an honest sound cannot be denied. That sound is heard on the album, Until The Sun Dies. It is only the seed of what is to grow, in the coming years of new directions for this talented artist. Not being anchored to a single paradigm continues to allow Richard to present what eludes so many in the pursuit of rhythm and melody.
Welcome to the truth.
