Description
Anyone can perform a rap show with an instrumental CD and a microphone. Anyone can produce a tight beat on an MPC or the latest pirated copy of Reason. In Sac Lunch the production credit goes to the six-piece live instrumentation that draws from jazz, rock, soul, and funk influences to generate a sound diverse and yet still rooted in head-nodding hip-hop. Songs sometimes feverishly intense, sometimes jazzy, sometimes cool and soulful, Sac Lunch caters to more than just fans of hip-hop, and in truth brings a little something for everyone to enjoy.
Sac Lunch has been performing in St. Louis since fall 2002. They have won two battle of the bands competitions, and have been aired on a television slot for the St. Louis-based Midcoast Mania showcase. They have opened for such acts as The Global Funk Council, Better than Ezra, Soul Position (RJD2 and Blueprint), Talib Kweli, and Busta Rhymes. In addition to shows in St. Louis theyve played in Bloomington, IN, Champaign-Urbana, IL, Columbia, MO and Springfield, MO. They have performed as weekly house band at Club Velvet, St. Louiss number one dance club, as well as received mention in the Riverfront Times twice, in 2004 Best Music of the Year issue and as nominee for the Best Funk Band in 2005.
