Description
The movement was a time when names like Hendrix, Joplin, and Motown rocked a world. The sounds became solid gold the moment they were first heard. Sonny had been a member of a small group of called the Mini-Brutes which had raged their own period of civil unrest. Sonny and his cousin were the only members that lived past their 21st birthday. The music would live on forever.
In 1975 at the age of 22 Sonny was saved and joined a small rural Free Will Baptist Church in South Carolina. Baptized in Black River in the middle of November with an afternoon temperature of 34 degrees Sonnys walk of faith began. A walk that would take him through many southern states as a pastor , paramedic , nurse , deputy coroner, or whatever Bi-Vocational effort he could find to support his family while he preached. These efforts were difficult but not as difficult, nor as rewarding as a young inexperienced ministers effort to over come the old souths refusal to die. The things that happen during this time are the things songs are written about.
