Description
The Locals are a Chicago-based indie-rock band formed in 1996 by lead singer Yvonne Doll. The band has toured throughout the midwest and has released 3 cd's.
They are currently in the studio recording their 3rd full length disc(due out Summer 06).
Eatin Paste was released in 05 and is a preview EP of the new Locals line and of great things to come from this veteran indie rock band.
A bit of history....
The Locals' second cd "Baby Buddhas and Little Einsteins" garnered over 100,000 internet downloads and is spinning on many internet and college radio stations.
The Locals have been together for 7 years, but this year 2005, marks a new beginning. With the departure of 2 core members, the remaining (and founding Locals Yvonne Doll and Christy Nunes) have set out to reconstruct and evolve the band's music with a new sound, some new blood, and their own endless supply of energy.
EJ Dawson (drummer) joined these two pint sized, power-house women rockers in Oct 04, bringing with him an arsonal of musical influences and a hard-hitting intensly expressive drum style.
The Locals sound has morphed, moved, and traveled from it's roots in Doll's solo/singer/songwriter days, to a violin based jangle rock, into it's current infancy as a laser focused, power-pop missile with one two punch delivery!
As for influences, you'll hear smatterings of No Doubt, Pretenders, Julianna Hatfield, Tracy Bonham, Frank Black, Wilco, XTC, and PJ Harvey peering through The Locals® tunes. If you dig
high energy music, with smart lyrics, catchy riffs and intense dynamics you'll like The Locals®!
