Description
Thomas Martin was born in New York City and currently calls New Jersey home, but his songs have roots in Tennessee. "Sometime around 1991, a friend gave me Will The Circle Be Unbroken and I became very interested in Bluegrass, old-time Country, and traditional Folk music. I picked up my guitar and started writing songs."
His originals combine elements of Americana, Pop, Folk and Country music. In addition to being a solo artist and performer, he's played guitar and bass in rock bands, and mandolin as part of a duo performing Russian folk songs. Also, Martin has supported colleagues in the recording studio as player, arranger, and producer.
The Aquarian Weekly called Martin's first CD, The Flowers Fall, "a must have, with eleven extremely well written tracks." NJCoast.com said its "well done, especially "She's A Millionaire," a decidedly unromantic love song." In 2004, Martin released a Christmas EP and New Jersey music critic Al Muzer recognized the track, "Snow on the Rooftop," as "outstanding." Martin's current release is Under the Sun.
Recently, "She's a Millionaire" was chosen by National Public Radio to be featured on the show, "All Songs Considered Open Mic." His songs are also played on 90.5 FM "The Night," Blowup Radio, and Radio Crystal Blue. Some venues Martin has performed at: CB's 313 Gallery, Kenny's Castaways, and The C-Note in New York City; and the NJ Songwriter's Showcase, the Indigo Coffeehouse, and the Folk You! Showcase at the Shore Institute of Contemporary Arts (SICA) in New
Jersey.
