Description
It's hard to tell how old she is. She sounds like a child on the phone, she jumps like a teenager during her incredible live performances. She writes with wisdom and simplicity that only a mature minded person would know.
She looks like she could be any age you want her to be.
Tokyo/Nagoya based TOMIYA makes you wonder what this girl is up to. She was a street performer from 1997 to 2000, and sold 3000 self-released CDs on the streets of Japan. She later hit the streets and clubs of New York, performing songs in Japanese. Her latest CD, "HONEY ROCK", was recorded in the Brooklyn basement studio of guitarist/producer Brad Craig.
She has interviewed music legends for her Japanese radio DJ gigs. And still, she is a girl who never listens to music in her daily life. She doesn't watch TV or read magazines.
She keeps you wondering - Who is TOMIYA? Her music comes from her pure soul that has yet to become jaded by society. She is funny, cool, sweet and edgy. She is everything her music is all about. And still I am wondering...
