Description
Chris MacCarthy was born and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. There he attended the University of North Dakota as a vocal performance student as well as a percussion student under Mike Blake (Jazz on Tap). Chris was a regular performer as a solo act and with numerous bands performing in Grand Forks, Fargo, Minneapolis and various points inbetween.
Chris moved to Chicago in 2000 and continues performing and recording as a singer/songwriter in the Chicago and Chicagoland area. He also contributes as a drummer in various Chicago bands. In October 2002 Chris was selected personally by Matt Sweeney (Zwan / Chavez) to perform at the infamous Jack Sweeney Open Mic at the Hideout which featured Billy Corgan along with the other members of Zwan, and Rick Nielsen (Cheap Trick).
Chris has performed at such Chicago venues as Elbo Room, Subterranean, The Hideout, Gunther Murphys, Silvies, Red Line Tap/Heartland Cafe, Wise Fools, HogHead McDunna's, Pint, The Big Horse Lounge, The Gallery Caberet, Phyliss Musical Inn, Burkhart Underground, and Brixies. Chris music ranges from a softer, melancholy sound to a more aggressive rock style at times accompanied by various background effects or loops.
