Description
Richard Soaring Owl and Keith Little Grizz known as Two Hearts are recipients of the 2005 Silver Arrow Awards, for their outstanding contributions to Native American music.
Richard is Polish by birth, American by choose, and Native American by heart. He was adopted by a Mohawk elder, and shortly afterwards given the name, Soaring Owl.
Keith Little Grizz's Native American heritage comes from his grandfather who was Abenaki. He was named Little Grizz as a boy when his grandfather observed Keiths interactions with his siblings. It was Keiths astounding curiosity and determination while at play that gave birth to his name.
Their CD titled Two Hearts was released in April 2005. Their musical trade mark evolved around performing duets with the Native American Flute.
Although each has their own distinctive style, when playing duets, they are taking their two independent hearts and combining them together to play as one.
Both Richard and Keith forged their unique musical bond while members of a Pow Wow drum called First Light Drum, which performed in the New England area. During the midday intermission, Keith would often be asked to play his flute.
It was Keith that recognized the haunting and free flowing style Richard expressed while playing the native flute. Richards flute would only come out at night; he would sit quietly at his campfire and as he began to wind down from the days drumming and singing, he would then weave his musical tapestries. With the encouragement and persistence from Keith, they began to collaborate in playing the flute during intermissions.
Their performances reached a higher level when they decided to play their first duet. Shortly afterwards the audience would sit mesmerized, listening to their compositions with anticipation in hearing a duet. It was the overwhelming response by the audiences wanting to take their music home with them that influenced Soaring Owl and Little Grizz to produce their first CD.
John Ash, owner of Magickal Spirit writes; The power of the music gifted us through Two Hearts is truly amazing! The feel and vibration of it...The stories it tells... I have been graced in friendship with Richard and Keith, which gives me an insight to their music. To listen to it on CD is powerful. To hear it live is phenomenal. To know the souls of the two men through whom Spirit channels these important life songs is a blessing!
In my store, their CD's are a big hit with my customers. At local events that I sponsor, their concerts are mesmerizing! Men, Women, and Children sit silently listening to their messages.
If you are a retailer reading this review, I encourage you to carry their music, promote their concerts, and get their messages out to the masses!
