Description
Recorded during early 2006, Chris Abad's 'The Starting Point' is what the title suggests: a new beginning for this NYC singer/songwriter. Chris trades in the polished electric guitar attack of his former band Dough, for the stripped-down, acoustic sounds of his solo debut. With deeply personal lyrics set against a sparse musical landscape, Chris brings a decidedly darker and different twist to his signature pop sound.
Singer/Songwriter/Native New Yorker Chris Abad has been cutting his teeth on the Northeastern music scene for the last several years, most notably as the lead singer and primary songwriter for his four-piece alterna-pop rock band, Dough. Before going on a hiatus in late 2005, Dough released two albums (available here at CD Baby), appeared on MTV, played countless shows, and garnered a diverse following throughout the Northeast. In addition to his work with Dough, Chris has recently branched out into the realm of acoustic and solo performance, taking with him his mixed bag of pop, new-wave and punk-inspired songs. Drawing on influences such as Elvis Costello, Elliott Smith, Weezer and The Cure, Chris aims to pen music that is honest, clever, self-effacing and ever melodic.
