Description
Andys desire to create music presented itself at a very early age with the desire to sing & drum along to Gene Pitney records (on pots and pans in the early days).
As a teenager he formed a band playing the drums and writing the lyrics, (his drumming background is where the tribal influences come from), he has always loved percussion and is still playing the drums but has no intentions of playing in a band.
The style of Andys writing varied over the years due to changing technology and styles although it has always maintained a tribal influence ranging from trippy early morning acid techno to driving peak time tribal tunes which are a tried and tested formula.
Andys dance nights, Looney Toons and subsequently Footprint were established on the North Wales free party scene in early 1996 and were very influential nights in the area with many other dance nights following in his footsteps. Although shelved in 2001 due to various other commitments and a lack of decent local venues, Looney Toons is now set to re-emerge in January 2007 with a launch party for the Footprint Record label and regular monthly nights.
Andy has always avoided the temptation to play or produce commercial dance music as his passion has always been for techno & electronica which just so happens to be far away from the mainstream. This has often proved to be a struggle but he has always strived to play something a bit different and unique, he is currently working on a new form of complex syncopated techno, something fresh and very rhythmic instead of the standard bangin stuff, which is much easier to produce.
Andy describes his music as atmospheric, progressive and intelligent, the basis of which is either a bounce or deep tribal groove. His music is not particularly hard or banging and isnt played any faster than other forms of dance music but it incorporates a different type of groove and rhythm that stimulates movement.
Due to the success of a three track session on Wales'Radio Cymru in 2002, Andys aim is to continue providing an alternative form of dance music to the people of Wales and beyond with the advent of his debut album.
