Musical style: eclectic and definition-resistant - so much so that shes coined her own term for it. GLAMAPHONIC describes glamour sounds for glamour hounds, a mood that blends funk, soul, lounge, blues and acid jazz.
A lifetime ago, Anne-Lise earned her bona fide musical stripes from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. But even then, there was a restless soul beneath the serious persona of the professional cellist.
After freelancing and teaching cello for a number of years, the desire to sing and be free was overwhelming. With no reason to stay in Brisbane [Australia], and wanting a fresh start with a new musical life, Anne-Lise took the leap and moved to Sydney.
Her Sydney projects have included the A-L Larsen Duo (featuring Andy Manessis, a featured Club Acoustica artist); and her band, Ayelle.
A solo career is the latest phase of Anne-Lises musical evolution. It marks a new level of dedication to - and confidence in - her art, and a realisation that she is capable of success in her own right.
The title of her new four-track EP, I'm Alive, is an affirmation of arrival and survival in the music world.
The EP was entirely written, composed, arranged and performed by Anne-Lise, and recorded and produced in her studio.
Belying its one-woman origins, Im Alive appeals to a wider, shared experience, exploring tales of love, loneliness, the pursuit of dreams and the seduction of envy.
Anne-Lise says shes inspired by life, love and money - a truly universal artist.
