Description
Bess is a retired educator who tells stories professionally in the Savannah, GA, area, She has traveled all over the world collecting stories for a book she is writing. Interest in ghosts and old houses prompted her to make the Ghost Stories CD. Her stories have a historical background. Also in the CD are three comical original stories. Awesome Possum, # 5 on the CD, is a tall tale, favorite of adults and children alike. The CD is popular with tourists on Savannah's History River Street and at the Visitor's Center. Bess also gives workshops on 'How to Become a Storyteller' and "How to Start a Storytelling Troupe'. She also helps seniors who want to write their memoirs. Bess was born in Greece and came to the US when she was seven years old. She holds degrees from Armstrong Atlantic University, Georgia Southern University and University of Georgia. The majority of her work years in education was spent as an elementary school media specialist, where she discovered her love of telling stories. Bess is learning to play the guitar to enhance her storytelling. She playes Greek Folk Songs for her mother's senior group. She laughingly tells her audience that she can play the guitar in two languages.
