Description
Portland native's Bombs Into You's debut record begs the question: Where the hell did this band come from? Normal indie band esthetic requires a bunch of lame demos, followed by a short mediocre ep, a whole lot of local gigging and then maybe having the privilege of releasing a decent but quickly recorded full-length album. Jared Jensen, Bombs Into You's creator turned his back on that maze, and instead sought to release something of quality from the start.
The result is a potent hook-laden pop record that invokes Nine Inch Nails, My Bloody Valentine, David Bowie, and even The Postal Service - without sounding like any of them. Bombs Into You has a unique varying degree of song-writing that makes you unsure of what's going to come next - but extremely willing to go along for the ride.
The first track, Stay The Best begins with a full minute of new wave synth and distorted drums, lulling you to a state of sleep and relaxation only to flip you over and shake you into a world of sweeping, backwards guitars with delays that never end, and mildly indecisive jarring rhythms. The subsequent journey gives Electro -Rock a whole new name. The lead single Arrested To You combines organic drums and acoustic guitars with Electro-Pop keyboard lines and synthetic bass, while you're attention is being drawn to the moody and incisive melody. Move Me, the albums fifth track is a pulsating simple work that you only need play once to get hooked on. And when it all ends, at the final blasting crescendo of Ononon, your left just wanting to hear it all again..........
