Rites Of Passage
Boru's Ghost
This is NOT your Grandpas Irish music. It's like Coffee and Bailey's with a stiff shot of Jagermeister and a Glenlivet chaser.

Description
The sound of Borus Ghost is an eclectic mix of acoustic rock, Celtic and folk music. While comparable to time-honored Celtic music, it is a refreshing and multifaceted blend. BG combines intelligent arrangements, driving rhythms, superb musicianship and complex vocal harmonies with such diverse rock influences as Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac.
Although the band has its roots deeply embedded in Celtic music, one may not even immediately recognize traditional music performed by this five piece band.
Their second CD, Rites of Passage includes inspired original compositions interspersed with thoughtfully arranged traditional songs. All include a distinctive style that is known among band mates and fans of BG as "Boruasizing." The following instruments were used to paint the canvas that is Rites: guitars, fiddle, bouzouki, mandolin, hammered dulcimer, Irish whistles, keyboard, bass guitar, bodhran, doumbeck, marching snare and a good old-fashioned electronic drum kit.
Members of the Ghost
The band was founded by guitarist and songwriter Russell Pierce in the Fall of 1999. He has been the driving force and visionary behind the band and its music.
John McGaha, adeptly plays fiddle, hammered dulcimer, bouzouki, vocals and quite frankly any thing else he can get his hands on. He is the soul of the music. John has contributed many of his original compositions to the effort and along with Russell writes much of the bands original music.
Audra Blankenship lends her penny whistles and a hauntingly beautiful voice to the music. She is one of the key ingredients to the uniqueness of the music and its sometimes hypnotic effect on listeners.
Van Williams is the veritable back bone of Borus Ghost with his aggressive percussion style and vocals. Van also recorded, mixed and mastered Rites of Passage at his studio, Dark Corner Studios.
Jeff Ammons is one of the latest members of the band, artfully wielding the bass guitar and adding that cool jazzy stuff to the sound of Borus Ghost.
