Description
EL CHIVO is the third volume of rarely heard and exciting sones abajeos, canciones rancheras, corridos and marchas of the traditional mariachi. EL CHIVO brings to life the improvisatory spirit of the rural tradition. Its instrumentation is simple: 2 violins, vihuela, guitarron and vocal duet, male and female, and zapateado, percussive dancing. Los Cenzontles brings to life again a forgotten tradition.
Los Cenzontles and Julian Gonzalez have performed this unique repertory around the U.S. and in Mexico including venues such as the Universal Amphitheater, the Orange County Performing Arts Center, and the Chicago Old Town School of Music.
