Description
Charushree Swaminathan is a Hindustani ( North Indian Classical ) singer from Mewati Gharana. She has trained under renowned musicians including Tripti Mukherjee, Pandit Jasraj and Dr Karhade (former principal of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Hyderabad). She specializes in Classical and Semi-Classical forms such as Khayal, Thumris, Geet, Ghazal and Bhajan.
Apart from singing and performing she has Collaborated and composed music for the following shows:
- 'Our World : One people, Many faces' with Mary Miller Dance company.
- 'Karna & Kunti' with Shristi Dances of India which was showcased at the Interface Festival 2002, Kolkata, India.
- 'Ramayana' - a collaboration between Indonesian and Javanese Gamelan dancers and musicians and Odissi dances of India.
- She has performed with the Jazz group 'Natraj' .
- She has also performed with an Indonesian Gamelan ensemble to showcase the versatility of Indian Classical music.
