Description
Chris Corbell is a Portland, Oregon based performer and composer. Corbell's musical past spans the gamut of musical avenues including working as a street musician in New Orleans, playing small-town juke joints with an americana band, working with major- and independent-label recording artists, and participating in academic avant-garde music.
A native of Louisiana, Corbell spent his childhood there, in Colorado, and in Nashville, Tennessee. He moved to New Orleans in order to cultivate a voice as a songwriter that would not be influenced by the commercial pressures of the Nashville scene. In his three years in New Orleans he performed regularly and wrote well over a hundred songs.
The work continues in Portland, Oregon which is home to a great independent music scene. The modern, dark acoustic style that Chris began to explore in New Orleans has matured and found its place among a host of great small groups and acoustic artists in the Rose City.
