Description
Dan Newton brings the charm and elegance of the French "Musette" to life. Sweet, understated, and sophisticated, Dan's music takes the listener to a sidewalk cafe in Paris, where men in straw boaters pass by on bicycles, while others drink red wine and sip strong coffee from tiny cups. This is the kind of music one hears in black and white films shown only in art house theaters, films with subtitles and haunting soundtracks. This is the music of romance, passion and dreams.
In a 1993 review of the original release, John Bobey wrote for Dirty Linen magazine:
"Each song is a little drama...all are so exquisite that it's painful. Not painful the way you suck cool air through a broken tooth, but painful in the way you, standing on the platform, share a gaze with a raven-haired vision riding a departing subway train knowing you'll never get to hear her voice or know her name."
This is the 10th anniversary reissue of Dan Newton's 1993 solo release which ultimately lead to the formation of the Cafe Accordion Orchestra. It has been digitally remastered, and includes new artwork and liner notes.
