Description
I was born in Southern Pines, NC in the early 1960s to wonderful parents: John W. and Ida M. Peek. I began singing when I was five years old. I remember vividly holding up five fingers indicating my age to the director of the Petite choir at Harrington Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. Over the years I have sung in several choirs and groups until about five years ago when ministry led me into the direction of teaching. The pastor at the church I was attending asked if Id be interested in going on a mission trip to Africa. This was the start of a four year annual journey to the beautiful country of Kenya. I sang a song during one of several services and two Kenyan ladies asked, Where is your CD? They asked with the expectation of receiving a professionally produced product. This planted the seed of possibility. This occurred in 2002. The following year I returned as a member of the missions team and was asked why I didnt have a CD yet and the next time I see you, you must have a CD. Two years went by; along with two more mission trips and I finally got the message. September 2004 I began writing the songs on the Just Want to Minister CD. My wife, Toni (born in Buffalo, NY) is an important part of this ministry. We met in England in the mid 1980's, while both serving in the U.S. Air Force, and married about a year and a half later. Weve both been involved in ministry from childhood. We are currently focused on musical ministry. Our hope and prayer is to reach those who have never set foot in a church building; those who have been disenfranchised and hurt by religious people and the church organization. Wed like to introduce or reintroduce them to our Heavenly Father through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
