Description
David Serby tells simple, (mostly) true stories and writes traditional country songs. Serby spent his childhood in a small Illinois town and his songs reflect the struggles and the challenges of the working man.
Music lovers from all walks of life are sure to connect with the images and emotions evoked by his lyrics. Hes influenced most by artists and writers like Hank Williams, Harlan Howard, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash.
With the help of his good friend and producer Ed Tree he released his first record. I Just Dont Go Home was recorded at Treehouse Studios in San Gabriel, California with a hand-picked group of musicians including Rick Solem (piano), J.D. Maness (pedal steel guitar), Skip Edwards (piano and accordion) and Gabe Witcher (fiddle).
Today he plays all over Southern California with his band the Sidewinders (Ed Tree (guitar); Taras Prodaniuk (bass) and Dale Daniel (drums)) where they are quickly making a name for themselves in the local Americana/Roots music scene.
"Following the tradition of California country legends like Buck Owens, Merle Haggard and Dwight Yoakam, David Serby throws his cowboy hat in the ring of fire and comes out a winner" -- Billy Block Western Beat Radio
The Los Angeles Times recently had this to say about Davids song Dirt Beneath My Nails: Serbys brand of alt-country is coffeehouse smart and roadhouse rough. But "Dirt" is about a workingmans romantic anguish. All I have is dust, sweat, love and lustthere aint no diamonds in the dirt beneath my nails.
David has just begun work on his second album.
