Deanna Ransom is anointed and blessed with a powerful and unmistakable voice with dynamic range. She posses an intangible quality about her that stands out as a beacon. As an artist, songwriter and arranger, she exposes her love for God and her heart toward him through song. She has the ability to reach your heart with her sincerity while uplifting your spirit through the Spirit of God.
Music has been a part of Deanna since her earliest memories as she has been singing in the church since the age of five. Her family shares the fond remembrances of Saturday morning house cleaning with their mother. "There was always gospel music in the background", says Deanna. "The Hawkins Family, Shirley Ceaser, Sam Cooke, The Dixie Hummingbirds, James Cleveland, Dorothy Lovecoats, The Clark Sisters, you name it and if it was gospel you would hear it playing from our house!". This love of music was diversified by the fact that Deanna's father once was an R&B singer and secular DJ. Deanna recalls when her mother wasn't home; the house would then be filled with Billie Holiday, Herbie Hancock, Chaka Kahn, Aretha Franklin, Earth, Wind, & Fire, Stevie Wonder, and Nina Simone. This developed Deanna's passion and appreciation for many different musical styles.
Deanna's debut solo release entitled "Never Say Never" features such tracks as: "Rise Sister" an uplifting duet with the Ms. Melba Moore already heralded as the new women's anthem, "You Bring Me Joy" which is also featured on the Bump This compilation CD released in stores nationwide August 2004, "Hallelujah" a gospel dance tune full of life and vibrancy and the title track "Never Say Never" which also won Deanna the 2004 Tiffany Gospel Award for Outstanding Single of the Year by a Female. Ms. Ransom will also be releasing her sophomore project, "He's Good" Summer of 2005. This project will reflect her growth in her walk with God and the more mature expression of what was placed in her to do in music ministry.
She has shared stages with Yolanda Adams, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Allen & Allen, and Dawkins & Dawkins to name a few. Deanna has also participated in numerous recordings including Glenn Jones and Melba Moore. In addition, Ms. Ransom holds an Associates Degree from Camden County College and a Bachelors Degree from Rowan University and is also a writer, businesswoman, and mother of three beautiful children. She is a native of Southern New Jersey and has traveled extensively spreading faith, love, encouragement, and if possible assistance to as many as will receive. She is also the Director and founder of the Virtuous Women of Destiny Women's Ministry. As a young woman, Deanna's prayer is that her life and not just the words of her mouth, is an example that you can be young, live for God, and fulfill dreams which are His destinies and purposes for our lives. "I have faced many dark days and trials which seemed insurmountable, but they gave me experience with God. I now know him in the fellowship of His sufferings and His resurrection power. I thank Him for the privilege to serve Him in this way."
