Description
In case nobody told you, it's true- you can praise the Lord with gospel that tastes like jazz. The Wayfarer's Inn is a formulated blend of gospel sounds with soulful heartfelt melodies, tight harmonies, all firmly grounded in a bedrock of smooth gospel jazz. Every song on this album was written to bring you up, and give joy and hope!!
The Garvin Dean Project (GDP) formed by Garvin Dean in 1999 came together again in 2005 to do a gospel project. Garvin Dean is a native of Huntsville, AL, and it was there, growing up on the campus of Oakwood College that he developed his love of music. As a child, he spent many hours listening to his father, Arnold Dean, who is a phenomenal classically trained pianist and organist. Everyone in the family is into music and is talented, so to him writing and performing music only seemed natural.
The GDP's core members, Kimberly Carter, Enjoli Howard, Jennifer Bellamy, Teneka Davis, Vinette Dye, Tonnette Sabbater-Reid, and Garvin met over dinner one Sabbath afternoon and just started singing around the piano. "We realized right away there was a special vibe in the room, and decided to do something with it", said leader Garvin Dean. The rest of the story can be heard on this second album of The Garvin Dean Project.
