Description
This is Gene's first release. In 1998, Gene moved to Nashville, TN to pursue his musical career. In Nashville, they tell songwriters to write what they know and so Gene, an avid horseman and cutter, did. The result was a collection of songs for cowboys, cowgirls and anyone who loves horses, the western lifestyle and particularly, the sport of cutting. The music is a mix of traditional/modern country and western swing and the songs are fun.
The project was recorded at Studio 23 in Nashville and was co-produced by Bryan Cumming and Gene. The CD features great session players, including Doug Jernigan on steel guitar, who played with the great Bob Wills.
If you like George Strait, Merle Haggard, Hank Williams, Bob Wills, Red Steagall and Gene Autry, you'll like these songs.
Gene has been featured on ESPN's, "America's Horse" and received great reviews in "The Quarter Horse News" and "Performance Horse Magazine."
