Description
G Mayes - BIO
God fearing, energetic, producer, writer, musician, husband and father are just a few attributes to describe Gary Mayes.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Gary began playing drums at the age of 5. The scheduled drummer where he attended
worship service was running late. Gary being aware of an opportunity, grabbed two pencils from his mothers purse and began
playing. From that day forward, Garys passion for playing the drums has grown further than he imagined. God has blessed him
to play for many great artists such as: Kim Burrell, Yolanda Adams, Kathy Taylor-Brown, Shawn McClemore, hip-hop artist Juvenile
and El Debarge, just to name a few.
While incarcerated, Gary had a life changing encounter that led him to surrender his life and his gifts to the Most High God. As Gary
grew spiritually, God revealed to him that playing the drums would not be his final destination in the music industry. God instilled in
him the ability to write and produce music. Due to being overlooked as a writer and producer, Gary decided to launch the group Nu Era
(formally Gary Mayes & Friends in Christ F.I.C.).{ Along with long time friend & production partner Glenn G.P. Piper}. At that time,
God began opening doors and surrounding him with individuals who believed in him. Gary stepping out from behind the drums and
transitioning to the front as a leader, demonstrates to other young musicians that with God they can become whatever they desire.
Garys first project The N. E. X-perience Vol. 1 was six years in the making. As he carefully prepared for his debut of Vol. 1, spirit-filled
songs were released. Songs entitled: It Didnt Work, We Made It, Here Am I, Nu Creature and We Worship Thee. During the growth
of the first project, Gary began working on his second project, Go Tell It The N. E. X-perience Vol. 2 (Christmas CD) with great songs
such as: Dont Forget the Baby, Go Tell It, Happy You Were Born, Jesus My Everything and This Christmas. Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 left
so many eagerly awaiting the next CD.
Garys newest project entitled Diary of a Strong Souljah is guaranteed to touch the lives of the new generation as well as the seasoned
generation with anointed songs entitled: Hell Come Through, Let the People Praise U, We Owe U More, Holy, Hit The Deck and Strong
Souljah. Pouring his heart and soul into this project, Garys aspiration and focus is to ensure lives will be changed for the better when
listening to the lyrics on this project.
Gary has received prominent awards as founder of Nu Era: New Artist of the Year - Holy Hip-Hop Awards and one of Houstons Pioneer
of Gospel - Kim Burrell Tribute to the Stars.
Gary is masterful with both his production skills and as a songwriter. This is only the beginning of Gary Mayes & Nu Era. If you dont
want to enter into the presence of God, dont listen to this music!
