Description
Hughes & Curtis Maritime and folk acoustic music
John Hughes of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, and Dave Curtis of Brighton, Ontario first met in Fredericton, New Brunswick in the late 70s as part of the band Foxtooth, doing a mix of bluegrass and folk music (Folk Music in Overdrive). In the early 80s they were a part of the Fredericton band Stringfever which played a mix of folk, rock, country and bluegrass. Though they ended up in different provinces after that, John and Dave decided that distance shouldnt get in the way of a great musical combination and friendship.
Their live show as a duo features acoustic guitars, bass, 5-string banjo and harmonica to give their selection of original, traditional and contemporary songs a maritime acoustic feel.
On the cd John and Dave are joined by J.P. Cormier, Tom Roach and Kevin Barry Evans, three of the maritimes finest musicians, to bring out the full potential of the songs. The music is eclectic and fresh with distinctive and energetic harmonies.
Hughes and Curtis provides a generous dose of good fun and good music.
