IAN MCLAGAN
A member of Small Faces, which became Faces when Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood joined the band, Ian Mac McLagan is a rocknroll icon.
Mac co-wrote many Faces hits, including Cindy Incidentally, Youre So Rude, Borstal Boys and Three Button hand Me Down. His distinctive Wurlitzer electric piano can be heard on the Faces Stay With Me and the Rolling Stones smash Miss You. It was Macs trademark B3 you heard on Small Faces Itchycoo Park, Rod Stewarts Maggie May and You Wear It Well among many others.
Aside from his brilliant work touring and recording with the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, David Lindley, Paul Westerberg, John Hiatt, Taj Mahal, Billy Bragg and Patty Griffin, Mac has released six critically acclaimed solo albums, highlighting his career as a singer-songwriter and an artist in his own right: 'Troublemaker', 'Bump In The Night', 'Last Chance To Dance', 'Best Of British', 'Rise & Shine!' and 'Spiritual Boy'.
Macs fourth solo CD, 'Best Of British' was produced by Gurf Morlix and was his first album to be recorded in Austin Texas, his new home. The Bump Band consist of Scrappy Jud Newcomb: guitars and vocals, Don Harvey: drums, and Sarah Brown on bass and vocals, plus Gurf played guitar and sang too.
Mac was presented with the prestigious Ivor Novello Award for his outstanding contribution to British music in 1996, and his outrageous autobiography, All The Rage is published by Pan/Macmillan. He produced the Faces four CD boxed set, 'Five guys walk into a bar...' for Rhino Records, and was inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame in 2004. He received a rare honor on April 6th, 2006, when it was proclaimed 'Ian 'Mac' McLagan Day' in Austin Texas.
