Description
ISLAND DREAM consists of: Ellen Silva (vocals, guitar), Dene Deckert (vocals, keyboards, accordian, ukulele, guitar), Preston Carter (electric bass), Jeff Smith (mandolin, dobro, drums), John Treacy (mandolin), and Sue Smith (percussion).
Their music has been called a "tropical paradise", and Ellen's songs are filled with hope and promise of good things to come. In this scattered and hectic world we live in "Visions of Hope" offers a calm space to rest and regain strength. "Whether they're folk, jazz, Latin-flavored or swing, Ellen's songs communicate hope. Optimism is liable to pop up anywhere," says a local columnist.
Ellens music is evocative of so many musical styles. She has the amazing knack of creating songs and ballads that deliver a sense of immediacy, intimacy, and warmth. At the same moment she never lets the music wander or stray. More than any recent artist I know, Ellens vocals and superb guitar work will make you sway like one of those Hawaiian palm trees. Ellen shares the vocal chores on this recording with Dene who is a fine musician in her own right. The collaboration between all the musicians conjures up images of a late night jam session in the quiet of a comfortable living room or an afternoon on a warm tropical beach.
