We meet the colorful characters that inhabit the scene: the fabulous chanteuse Erickatoure, tranny extraordinaire and podcast co-host Linda James, go-go stud Jay, the lovely Peppermint, Flawless Sabrina, the voluptuous Maxine Innis, fierce queens Koko and Mecca, mega-mixing DJ Nita, and the adorable Adam Joseph. We also meet the crew’s loveable leader, The Gay Pimp.

Anywhere else in the world, gays and tranny kids are ostracized by peers, ignored by teachers, ridiculed and sent to psychiatrists by parents, even beaten by strangers. In New York’s East Village, however, the queens rule. Here, every street is a runway, glamour is celebrated; it’s their territory and you can’t f**k with them. They’re not only proud of their lifestyle, they rejoice in it, declaring in Somethin’ For The Fellas, “All them other haters they just be jealous, and baby if you feel this put your hands up and shout it, work bitch!”

In Showgirl, Erickatoure Aviance lists the ten steps of enjoying a drag queen lap dance. In This Is How You Go-Go, stripper Jay offers a lesson on Go-Go-ing 101. “Grab the stripper pole, bro,” he says, “then you dip it low and you shake your d**k.” Jonny McGovern and Flawless Sabrina explain how they like to get drunk and funk in We like to Freak. There’s even a guest appearance by legendary drag diva Kevin Aviance. In the album’s title track, the mother of nightlife raps that it ain’t ovah until he says it’s ovah.
