Description
Born and raised in the south, Joshua Harrell has always followed his heart while never straying too far from home. His music, on the other hand, embodies everything the world has to offer.
In 2005, Joshua began to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a recording artist. His first effort, an eclectic collection of songs inspired by the rhythm of his life, reflects a true sense of purpose with its driving beats and forceful energy. Diverse as it is genuine, the album melds Joshuas influences --- Boy George, Poe and Patti Labelle --- to deliver a unique blend of pop, white soul and electronica.
"Weird, but cool", one critic commented after sampling Joshuas material. Fluid and emotional, another stated. He has a soul-searching delivery that comes from fearlessly reaching deep inside oneself, still another commented.
The first single of the upcoming debut, "Johnny Be Happy" was released in the spring of 2006. The track, written by Joshua and producer, Europa, focuses on the letting go of a loved one --- who cannot manage to find happiness in his relationship --- by the person that loves him the most.
Included in the EP is another original track called "Sanctuary", a sultry account of seduction and vulnerability, as well as a remake of the Siouxsie and the Banshee's hit, "Peek A Boo".
Overall, Joshua Harrells music is surreal and surprising. His performance? Pure and powerful. What more could one ask for in a new artist?
Currently, in collaboration with 5th Element, Joshua is producing his first full-length CD, due out in Spring 07.
