ALBERTO DE ALMAR is simply one of the best guitarists around. Anyone who has listened to Alberto's music or seen Alberto's live performances is struck by his amazing talent and his diverse, inventive and emotionally charged guitar playing.
Though primarily known for his contemporary Flamenco/Fusion style, Alberto's multifaceted fret work cuts across musical genres incorporating both acoustic and electric guitar.
Alberto began playing guitar at age 11 in his home town of Miami. After mastering rock, jazz and classical guitar styles, he fronted groups opening for The Allman Bros., The Grateful Dead, Edgar & Johnny Winter, Sly and The Family Stone, The Blues Image, NRBQ and others.
His reputation as a young, versatile and innovative guitarist caught the attention of legendary music genius, Frank Zappa, who invited Alberto to Los Angeles where he worked with Terry Bozzio, Don Preston, Freddie Hubbard, Jaco Pastorius, Minnie Ripperton and several other prominent musicians.
While he continued to work in the eclectic Los Angeles rock scene, Alberto's cousin, Jorge Strunz (Strunz and Farah) introduced him to the world of Flamenco. Alberto diligently pursued his passion for Flamenco and created his own unique style integrating contemporary characteristics of rock and jazz with traditional Flamenco and the rest is history.
Alberto has worked with Flamenco maestro, Paco de Luca, as well as other Flamenco luninaries including Manolo Sanlcar, Enrique de Melchor, Enrique Morente, Paco Corts, Pepe Habichuela, Rafael Riqueni, Javier Ruibal, Jos Miguel Carmona and Agustn Carbonell "Bola." He's also worked with World Music artists Zakir Hussain, Prince Diabate, Cheb Khaleb, Manoocher Sadeghi and Don Preston.
Alberto also brought his signature Flamenco/Fusion sound to a host of other recording artists including Julio Iglesias, Charo, Doug Cameron, Los Crucificados (with Randy Castillo, Carmine Rojas and Django Porter) and Alicia Keys on her remix single called "A Woman's Worth" that Alicia performed at the Grammy Awards with Spain's top flamenco dancer Joaquin Cortez.
In 2003, Alberto began recording and touring with renowed contemporary jazz pianist, Keiko Matsui. He continues peforming in venues around the world with Keiko and band members Eric Baines (bass), Steve Reid (percussion), Chad Wright (drums) and Michael Ghegan (saxophone). When he's not on the road with Keiko, Alberto performs both as a solo artist and with other recording artists. He also keeps busy in the studio working on his own projects as well a those of other artists.
Alberto has released three CD's: The spirited FURIA, the rock/metal infused BENT MARBLE and the ethereal and sensual ALMA PURA on which he collaborated with international music producer and composer, Claudio Collino.

CLAUDIO COLLINO started his prestigious music career in Venice, Italy. A piano prodigy, Claudio composed his first classical score at the age of 13 and while still in his teens, began teaching piano professionally. He went on the have his first single produced at the age of 22, three years before he was to receive his Master's Degree in Classical piano from the G. Tartini Music Conservatory in Trieste.
Claudio then hooked up with Premio Nobel with whom he produced several Euro-dance singles. Claudio went on to compose and produce several more songs and soon had five hit singles in the top 40 on the European dance charts.
Claudio founded D.F.C. which became the trend label for Expanded Music. Claudio's extraordinary talent for mixing musical genres had a significant impact that was instrumental in changing the style of house music.
As Claudio's reputation as an ace composer and producer of dance hits grew, so did the demand for his original compositions and production wizardry. He produced and published dozens of singles for several bands in Europe and Asia.
Claudio's magic touch continued with the release of "Sueno Latino," which rose to number one on the European Dance charts where it remained for three weeks and subsequently stayed in the top 40 for several months.
"Sueno Latino" proved to be a very important part of the dance movement of the late 1980's and early 1990's. Since the release of Claudio's original production, Derrick May, Frankie Knuckles and other well known remixers have re-released "Sueno Latino" and it continues to be remixed to this day.
"Sueno Latino also attracted the attention of music impresario, Malcolm McLaren for whom Claudio and his crew went on to remix "Waltz Darling" in addition to four new tracks.
Claudio next turned his attention to the mix of Peruvian and techno music and produced "Ultimo Imperio" for the group Atahualpa. Their first single, also titled "Ultimo Imperio," hit number one on the European dance charts. After the success of "Ultimo Imperio," Claudio focused on Atahualpa's next release, "Ritmo Andino," which spawned three more number one hits on the dance charts.
Claudio continued producing several singles for other bands in the dance market and hit the charts again with "Barraca Destroy" which went on to become a number one hit in Europe and Asia. He also produced the group Sin Fronteras who cut "Vives con Pasion," a Latino oriented dance mix included in one of the top selling dance compilations.
Claudio also wrote and produced "Baila Este Ritmo," for Cecilia Gayle's CD "El Pam Pam," which sold several hundred thousands copies.
After moving to Los Angeles, Claudio formed Kytarana in 2001 with Modern Flamenco/Fusion guitarist, Alberto de Almar. Their first release, ALMA PURA, is an enchanting and sensual mix of music from the four corners of the earth.
Claudio currently divides his time between Italy and Los Angeles and continues writing, producing and collaborating with several recording artists as well as composing original music and scores for television and film soundtracks.
