Description
The Lander signature sound has developed from dirt roads and campfire songs into a heart tearing experience. In the lights of classic singer/songwriter folk, the Lander songs and lyrics have claimed a signature of simplicity- simplicity that surrounds itself in tones that are epic, with many layers. Each song is passionate and real- always telling stories, creating moods and atmospheres and sincerity. Blending classic folk compositions, timeless rock n roll and orchestral drama, the Lander sound is putting lumps in throats.
The Lander members are combining pasts in creating a clean signature of sound. The group ranges from professional to amateur- rock n roll to orchestra- electric to acoustic. The Portland based band is off to a burly start in 2006 and expanding its horizons locally, as well as, nationally.
Born in Lander, Wyoming, singer/songwriter Tyler Stenson (25), presents his soulfully delivered, articulate lyrics within a glorified campfire song. The members elevate the sound through their diverse musical styles, backgrounds and ability to extract a songs simple emotion.
In 2005, Lander has boasted a song in rotation on Portlands KINK FM 102, played at the Nike Campus for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, headlined the Buffalo Gaps annual Gap Fest Music Festival and has frequented a variety of local Portland music venues.
2005 is gone- 2006 has much more in store, including a March release of a full-length debut studio album. With a sound that is choking fans, Lander expects to burst open and achieve great things through song.
-We could be in the atmosphere.
"The 12 track debut infuses folk compositions with timeless rock n' roll melody. Sentimental, sincere, even romantic, the song's lyric and mood stir up an emotional history. The tragedy of the commons: love and heartbreak, glory and ruin, hope and regret. Imagine campfires, long dirt roads and the epic story that is life and you've begun to imagine the sound of orange. chrome. sky."

Singer/songwriter Tyler Stenson's band, Lander, delivers his heartfelt songs with a rare, understated elegance. Embracing folk, roots rock, country and Pink Floyd style space rock, simple chord progressions evolve into soaring arrangements that bring a sense of drama to cinematic lyrics. The songs evoke images of Stenson's upbringing in Wyoming (Lander is the name of his home town there), romance, and always, the ever-changing sky. Like a sunset, Lander's music offers a beauty which is dynamic, spacious and undeniable. This epic album is for the human in us all.
