Description
In April of 2005, guitarist Larry Allen Brown and his wife Kathryn traveled to the mountains of North Carolina on their honeymoon. While visiting the beautiful mountain village of Blowing Rock they happened to meet a young filmmaker named Tom Santay who was shooting a film on the history of the town of Blowing Rock. This chance encounter led to an exchange of phone numbers and inquiries about the possibility of providing some of Larrys music as background music for the film Tom was doing. After receiving a sample of Larrys music, Tom found it to be the perfect background for the footage of the mountains and lifestyle of the town of Blowing Rock.
Several months later the film was edited, and a distribution deal was signed with Cabin Fever, and the album, Music for the High Country was recorded. After hearing the music, the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce was convinced that Larrys music set the perfect mood for life in Blowing Rock, and endorsed the recording as the soundtrack of Blowing Rock.
The music is simple and direct, featuring the wood and steel of the acoustic guitar in a solo setting, along with several cuts that feature an ensemble using the chamber group that Larry calls the Acoustic Earth Orchestra. The group consists of violin/viola, upright bass, piano, and the Irish whistle and the Bodhran. No Bluegrass here. What youll experience is heartfelt solo acoustic guitar and a small chamber group that is more classical in its approach. Backporch Classical might be the best description.
