Dream
Leslie Clark
Singer Songwriter Leslie Clark's style can simply be described as Pop Folk but the influences abound ~ from the Beatles to bluegrass by way of Broadway and a detour to Iraq ~ somehow it all comes together in an original and unmistakable style.

Description
Leslie took up guitar at the age of eight when her father, a New York art director who liked to plunk around on an old Gibson, brought one home for her. Struck with the nave thought that singing other people's songs was stealing, she started writing soon after learning her first chords. She studied classical guitar and voice from the age of 15 through college and, at 18, was tapped by hit songwriter Mort Garson ("Our Day Will Come") to be his lyricist. Famed Broadway coach David Craig put a polish on her performing skills, and she was off on a journey around the world playing and writing music. She has performed at Folk City, P&Gs and other clubs in New York, and did three tours in Japan as a single act in clubs. She has played in Pariss Latin Quarter in the pass le chapeau tradition. She has even sung in an ashram deep in the heart of Andhra Pradesh.
During those years, commercial success eluded her. Agents didnt fulfill promises, and industry contacts told her to write more like Boz Scaggs or Madonna. With the record industry dominated at that time by the major record labels, she decided to just relax and enjoy music on a smaller scale.
In the early 90s, a chance meeting with guitarist Mike LeDoux, former session player for Phil Spector, resulted in a 3-year partnership as a coffeehouse duo, a collaboration that Leslie credits with the maturation of her writing and guitar work. Later in the 90s, she became immersed in studies of Eastern religion, particularly Hinduism. This tour through spiritualism led to the release of her CD "Light" and the single "Sky Was Full of Angels", written in the immediate wake of 9-11.
By 2005, the music industry had changed. There had been an emergence of indie artists as a result of the Internet revolution and accessibility to distribution channels that hadnt been there before. Armed with a portfolio of strong original songs (thanks to the fact that she had disregarded the industry suits who told her to write more like other artists), Leslie went after making the highest caliber CD she was capable of making.
Her new release Dream is the result. Dream is used as the Sanskrit term Maya to mean that life is simply a Divine dream, to be enjoyed rather than suffered, our parts played well. Dream is a rich musical glimpse at the dream of one songwriters life so far in 14 song acts, from the comforts of the cradle to the warm joys of coming home.
