Description
The World is Oz
c2006 L.C. Di Marco
Heart. Mind. Body. All so related. All so intricate. All so full of complexities.
Heart. It pumps blood. It's red. It's dark. It's fluent.
Brain. It too pumps, but what? Wired. Multi-coloured. Never ending.
The Tin Man searched high and low for a heart to make his own. The Scarecrow fell over and over again as he had no brain to direct his legs along a straight and narrow path. The Lion lacked courage. To Oz they went with Dorothy searching that which they all sought. Dorothy just wanted to go home.
What they truly lacked was enough experience in life to comprehend that the heart needs love, grief, pain and passion. It is those elements that make up courage. The brain is a process. It directs. It analyzes. It remembers.
Our ribs physically protect the human heart. Ribs are strong but not more than tin. Who protects it from external pains that are lasered through by life's pangs? When someone speaks without thinking those words that hurt so deep, what is there to soften the pain? When folks are cruel and purposely treat us like nothings, what is there to shield those non-visible arrows? When we fall and scrape our pride, what then?
The challenge is to be at peace with oneself so that external barriers do not interfere with our peace of mind. To look in the mirror and say, 'yes, I am me and it's ok to be me.' To note that, 'yes, I did my best and it's ok.' The Scarecrow dances through the pathways to find the intellect as if it were a spatial possibility. He eventually realizes he can think for himself. The Lion accepts that he is indeed courageous in his walk through life. Only when they all come together do things make sense.
Being true to oneself is challenging to say the very least. I've heard the words, 'Listen to your heart." But the question is, 'do I trust it?' How often does it betray me? Or perhaps, has my heart been so betrayed that it hath little faith in itself? Perhaps I think too much. Experience has brought courage to do all that I desire.
Like the world of OZ, life is full of choices and there are many paths to follow. We become leaders by making our own choices. There is much beauty around us and to live life fully is a quest. To feel love is living. Stop. Pause. Meditate. Smell the life that surrounds us: roses, greenery, stream ways. Value what is current and respect that which is life.
Over the years, my heart has prevailed. It has pushed me to follow what I truly love -- to sing those words that come to my lips; to expose those mental thoughts that only my mind can hear; to follow my dreams and pursue my quests.
A warm thank you to all those I love: familyfriendschildrenanimalsnaturebeauty. All are one and one is all.
Celebrate life.
Namaste,
LiANA
