Description
This is Like So, a Brooklyn based rock/soul or what they like to call, "heavy soul" group. The group was formed in spring of 2001, when New York City native and singer/songwriter Aisha Cohen met local, like-minded guitarist Aaron Magram. Introduced by Aaron's roommate at the time, the two formed an instant bond over a body of work that was, shall we say, unfinished. Over a period of 2 years and after much toil, frustration, alcohol and hazy nights, the pieces started coming together.
During this time, they played, like, everywhere around New York City- small clubs, medium clubs, cafes and the like (as the Aisha Cohen Band). Now armed with their self-titled debut, Like So is poised to bring their heavy soul to as many people as will listen. With songs like "Down" with it's memorable melody and driving rhythm and "Move On" with thoughtful lyrics that speak to universal emotions and experiences, their debut is just a taste of what's to come. One thing is for sure, the experiment that is the music of Like So is sure to leave an impact on audiences and leave them wanting more long after the band has left the stage.
Like So's mini LP, which was engineered and mixed by Joel Hamilton (JJ Paradise Players Club) and Tony Maimone (Pere Ubu, They Might Be Giants) at Studio G Brooklyn, is out now on Aisha's own on Systren Recordings.
