Description
Liquoricegirl is the musical alias for Diane Barbarash, former lead vocalist for Liquorice Sea. My new solo record, "I Found You By the Dogwood Tree", will be released on Oct 22, 2006!!! I call it ETHERIAL ROOTS POP. These songs came right after a writing block that lasted two years (2003/2004), and are reflections on that "suspended" place in time... influenced by the fork-in-the-road crisis - which way do I take my life, what do I really value, how to I resolve the darkness I constantly wrestle with... During that time I thought I might never write again. It was incredibly painful and confusing. Eventually, I decided that whatever I was feeling, I would just allow it, not judge it. These songs reflect the honesty that then flowed out. The "I Found You By the Dogwood Tree" project has a major focus on vocals with minimal production. It is the CD I've been wanting to do for years. Recorded at home using Cool Edit Pro, my American strat, a Neumann U87 mic, and Fender Princeton tube amp. Mixed and mastered with Doug Paterson at Big World Sound in Vancouver, BC.
