Description
Get ready for Country Soul from a City Girl.
Liz Toussaint is a Chicago native with a voice as big as Texas. The youngest of seven, Liz was influenced by diverse genres of music, citing country, r&b, gospel, deep house and salsa among her many influences . She says "I could not ignore one genre for another; I just sang what came out and accepted it for what it was.... Country Soul.
When Liz was a little girl her mom exposed her to arist like Lionel Richie and Barbara Striesand who she adores, but as she got older and was able to choose her own music, she preferred the Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain, and Jo De Massina to name a few. In the late 90s Liz performed with r&b girl groups, but never felt she was writing and singing the kinds of music her heart really felt. So after two year hiatus from the music industry, she joined producer Lee Hurst and began to fully develop her distinctive style, Country Soul.
After working Three Years, allot of shows, and bunch of set backs later, Lee and Liz held a tangible piece of there creation, for the album was finished. At that time she felt she was ready to reach out to family, the family that wouldnt sugar coat anything but strawberries. She said the greatest moment was when she went to visit Allen (Toussaint) and he said; I think what your doing is GRAND. Being acknowledged by him was the greatest honor thus far. We hope that the world shares his view.
