Description
Lorenzo L. Harrison is the father of the Jewell Dominions music tradition. Born on February 11, 1925 in Ocala, Florida to Frank and Henrietta Harrison. His desire as a young man was to use his talent playing music for the Lord.
Lorenzo is the Architect and most prominent ambassador of the Jewell Dominions music tradition. He was also the answer to Chief Jewells prayers. She prayed that God would give her church a style of music that would distinguish them from any other, and that is exactly what happened.
He influenced the style, sound and direction of this music as it trickled down to other churches within the Jewell Dominion, producing scores of accomplished steel players to carry the tradition on.
Using the Morley Wah Pedal, he created a sound and style of music never before heard in churches and changed the way most people perceived the steel guitar. Lorenzo single handedly changed the whole concept of what could be played on the steel guitar.
Harrison was able to establish the steel guitar as the lead instrument in the church. Lorenzo was a multi-talented musician playing the bass and steel guitar behind the legendary Jewell Gospel Trio singing group in the early 1950s.
This Tribute is Freddie Mae Harrisons (wife)way of honoring the memory of her late husband, Lorenzo Harrison, affectionately known as "Doc". This CD contains live church recordings of Lorenzo ranging from the years 1969 to 1986.
The audio quality is admirably clear and well preserved. These limited recordings are now being released for public consumption. The music was transferred from cassette tapes over to compact disc. The sound has been enhanced in the studio and re mastered to produce a better quality recording. This is a great addition to any rare or vintage collection. You can look forward to many happy hours of listening to the harmonious melodies on this tribute CD.
Twenty years after his death, his musical influence can still be heard within the walls of the Jewell Dominion church. His legacy will forever remain as a landmark of greatness in the Grand Old Church of the Living God.
