Description
Formed in early 2005, The Luminols blend of hard guitar riffs and melodic vocals gives listeners very little time to catch their breath. Not wanting to waste peoples time, the band burns through eleven songs in thirty two minutes on their debut record, Idiots Delight.
With a lot of ambition, but limited funds, the Luminols set out to make the best record possible on their small budget. Scraping together enough for one day at Chemical Sound in Toronto, the band tore through their repertoire and headed home. With the bulk of the tracks done the band finished the album with the help of rented and borrowed equipment and the kindness of friends and family. Also lending his talents was Ian Blurton of Cmon and Change of Heart, ensuring that the guitars were blazing hot, and most importantly, really loud.
With the frantic drumming of Rob Chowhan, and the borderline fuzz bass of Jason Hall, Idiots Delight never lets up once its starts. With a rhythm section like a locomotive, the bands sound is evened out by the chainsaw guitar playing and vocals of Dan Haslett. While leaning toward the melodic side of things, the influences of the lyrics are all over the place. Tackling the usual topics such as lost love, they also branch out into often strange subject matter such as dead end jobs and blind rage.
While putting the final touches on Idiots Delight, the band wound up supporting Bon Jovi at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto by submitting Hey Everybody to a competition organized by Bon Jovi and the winning band chosen by radio station Q107.
With countless more shows big and small under their belts, The Luminols look forward to doing what they love best and playing live everywhere they can.
