Description
One of the newest and most dynamic bands in Havana these days is Manolito y su Trabuco . Founded by Manolito Simonet on February 25, 1993, they have quickly become one of the favorite dance bands in the capital city, playing all the hottest night clubs.
A talented young pianist, Manolito Simonet has four albums under his belt. He has also recorded for other groups outside of Cuba, such as Iraz. Many of Manolito's compositions have been played by top Cuban bands such as Elio Rev y su Charangn and Charanga '86, and have also been used in movie soundtracks.
The eleven group members have all graduated from the National School for the Arts, and have toured internationally. Most of them, including Manolito, are former members of the progressive charanga group Orquesta Maravilla de Florida. When Manolito y su Trabuco was created, they were a charanga group consisting of three singers, with the addition of two trombones and a trumpet. The band was a big hit when they played live on Cuban radio and on the television show Mi Salsa. Now with the release of this CD, Manolito y su Trabuco will be spreading their magic throughout the world!
