Description
My music is mostly acoustic, in the broad sense that includes horns and accordions and jaw harps and string sections and such, with thoughtful if not always (sometimes) dense arrangements. And it's more poetic than simply declarative or sad or angry. All in all, there are fourteen great musician on this record. Plus me. Here's some bio: I'm fourteen now but I've been performing since I was nine. When I was eleven I got to play my first show in NYC and later that year got to open for the amazing David Johansen & The Harry Smiths. When I was twelve I opened for Blue Man Group (got to see them transform from pink to blue) and played before my first audience of more than a thousand people. The other night (5.17.2006) my friend Shayna Gonsalves and I got to open for the legendary Michael Hurley. I've been lucky enough to have members of String Builder, Death Vessel, Neutral Nation, The Eyesores, Superchief Trio, V.Majestic, Plymouth Rock, Denim Venom, Mahi Mahi, C+, Black Forest/Black Sea, Fern Knight, The Duke Robillard Band, Gloria Deluxe, and Matty Charles and the Valentines back me up at one time or another -- and many of them appear on this CD! Joel Thibodeau of Death Vessel was in my first band The Vitatonics (with Paige van Antwerp and Geoff Griffin of Plymouth Rock) and became my duet partner for a couple of years -- we called ourselves The Hiccups -- and the two of us were sometimes joined by The Eyesores' head, Alec K. Redfearn (who was also in The Vitatonics). A punk band I had, The Prom Bombs, had guitarista Hilary Jones of The Sweethieves on lead guitar, Fern Knight's Chris Saraullo on drums and the ever-evolving Marcella Nova on bass. It's a good life! The musicians in Providence are the most supportive and generous musicians in the world -- Just listen!
