Description
Mark Russo, performer, writer and producer of Instrumental Christmas, has created his own private label M & M Productions)to independently finance his first collection of Christmas tunes. Russo projects compelling new age instrumental imagery, while effectively blending the flavor of classical tradition to convey the yuletide experience.
Russo prepared for his passion by focusing in an artful combination of classical and jazz compositions, while attending the Berkelee College of Music in Boston. His commitemtn and discipline to music gave him the opportunity to study and master an array of woodwinds, as well as many other instruments, under the tutelage of the highly acclaimed Frank Foster, an inspiring original member of the Count Basie Orchestra. Russo also studied with Salvatore Amato, a stimulating element of the NBC Orchestra.
Although a sensitive understanding of classical and jazz styles has influenced many of Russo's works, he continues to have an insatiable desire for creative instrumental emergence that is not limited to, but compliemted by, his diverse muscial portfolio. Rhythm and blues, big band, contemporary sawing and synthesized new age sounds are all part of his inspirational-like approach which stimulates many of his original and abstract compositions.
Russo continues to perform in the bay area with his own multi-versital band. Check out his website at www.theclassycats.com.
