Description
Hailing from Tucson, AZ, and currently making his home in Nashville, TN, Mason Douglas has amassed a loyal following from his immeasurable voice, rugged yet distinguished image, and dynamic stage presence, becoming one of country music's newest and hottest artists.
Mason hit the music scene with full force in 2000 where his song "Meet Me at the End of the Aisle" gained national attention and airplay throughout the southern and western states on the syndicated "Big D & Bubba Show". With this attention, Mason gained an even larger fan base and following through his live performances, bringing his energy and voice to crowds throughout the country. In May, 2006, Big Country 102.7 touted Mason Douglas one of "country music's hot rising stars", alongside Danielle Peck, Natalie Howard, and Nashville Star winner Chris Young. When asked about his rising status, Douglas says "Inevitably one day, there will be a time when I look back at these good ol' days - I'm grateful that they keep getting better and that more and more people are catching on. As long as they're listening, I'll be playing."
In 2006, Mason Douglas will release his most progressive work to date, Calling Me Name. "What you're going to hear on this album is what would happen if Radney Foster and Shelby Lynne had a love child adopted by Garth Brooks," says Douglas. "They're the songs you'll want to put on repeat, grab a bottle of wine, and dance to all night with your baby." The soulful mesmerizing lyrics of songs such as The Blues Never Looked Good on You and Beautiful You will undoubtedly have you wanting more of this young talent. While Mason delivers with a little jazz and a lot of blues, he proves his heart is in country with up-beat honky-tonk live favorites like Beerathon and Big Bad Wolf. There is no question that country music is his true passion.
Douglas, who has written or co-written all of his songs on the upcoming album, draws from his own lifes adventures. He has a keen eye for what works, an ear for what sounds amazing, and knows he's nothing like anything you've heard before. "There's a lot of music available these days and some people say that a lot of it sounds the same," Mason muses. "I have heard more compliments about my music offering a fresh sound to the audience and that really means the world to me. That's really what I'm trying to do." His ability to sing and capture a listener is nothing less than a gift that every performer strives for.
Other than an extraordinary love for music and performing, Mason Douglas is inspired everyday by a truly unique event. In February of 2000, he met one of his true idols at the Bluebird Cafe: Garth Brooks. Garth personally told Mason to stick with it, no matter what to which Mason promised, "I will". To this day, Mason Douglas has kept his promise. Everyone should be glad he did.
Mason Douglas is truly an outstanding new artist. He is that rare combination of singer/songwriter and personal charisma that is so hard to find. I have discovered and developed several major artists such as Michael McDonaldMason Douglas could follow in their footsteps."
