THE JOURNEY - WORLD OF MUSIC QUATROLOGY

LONGING is the FIRST VOLUME in the project called "THE JOURNEY - WORLD OF MUSIC QUATROLOGY". The four albums make a totality of a musical/spiritual journey.

The albums are mainly acoustic (except BURSTING), featuring folk instruments like Bouzouki and Tamboura, as well as Acoustic Guitar. BURSTING is an Electric Guitar album.

All albums from QUATROLOGY are in the World Fusion/New Age style, with music based on the Balkan Folk, especially Macedonian and Greek. The accent is on the uniqueness of the melodies and rhythms of that region.

What makes them WORLD instead of purely FOLK is implementing the Western Pop sentiment, including advanced harmonies and thoughtful arrangements.

The result is a pretty original Balkan Urban Sound of the 21st Century.

Vol.1: LONGING (acoustic, reflective and soothing, instrumentals and songs in English and Macedonian Language)

Vol.2: RESTLESS (acoustic, uplifting and breezy, mainly instrumentals with one song in English)

Vol.3: BURSTING (electric guitars playing a fusion of Balkan Folk with Hard & Soft Rock; mainly songs in English with one song in Macedonian language and a few instrumentals)

Vol.4: CALM (acoustic, meditative and tranquil, mainly instrumentals with one beautifully arranged Macedonian Folk song)

LONGING - INFORMAL ALBUM DESCRIPTION

The album is a mixture of songs and instrumentals deeply rooted in the Folk music of the Balkan Peninsula. But they go a step further. It's Balkan World Music of the 21-st Century - DEEP, EMOTIONAL, ELEGIACAL.

The MOOD of The Journey - LONGING is similar to that of the albums of Cesaria Evora. It's the JOYFUL SADNESS, the sad tune with a lot of hope and love somewhere deep down between the lines.

The sound and style of the GUITAR is between that of Mike Oldfield and Eric Clapton - MINIMAL, SOULFUL, with a defined language of expression.

While the sound of the BOUZOUKI and TAMBOURA is pretty MELANCHOLIC and MODERN in the same time - it's probably how Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin would sound if he was born in Greece.

The track Father's Song received a Billboard Award in 2004

The Journey, Vol.1: Longing is chosen as Editor's Picks on CDBaby for the year 2006 in the styles World Fusion and Eastern European.
